A 12V fan at the base pulls warm air up through three frozen ice bricks in a foil-lined insulated chamber. The chilled air rises and exits the top of the pack — directed straight at your neck and head.

The bucket hat comes with a removable neck cape that drapes down over the top opening of the backpack — sealing in the cold airflow and concentrating it around your neck, face, and shoulders.

The Science
Your Hypothalamus
The hypothalamus is your brain's built-in thermostat. It monitors your core temperature and triggers sweating and vessel dilation to cool you down. But when the hypothalamus itself overheats, the whole system can fail.
The brain is one of the body's highest-circulation organs. Cooling the head directly gives your hypothalamus the support it needs to regulate your entire body temperature more effectively.
Heatstroke is a life-threatening emergency that begins at 104°F (40°C). Symptoms include confusion, slurred speech, seizures, and coma. KOOLNUT's dual system targets the problem at the source — before symptoms ever begin.
